Communities that Work Members

Communities that Work’s membership reaches across all regions in England.  See where our members operate.

Bernicia was the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of the North, covering the modern-day areas of Berwickshire, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear and Durham, in essence stretching from the Forth to the Tees.

We chose the name as the location of our homes and estates closely matched this geography, but for us Bernicia stands for much more.

We believe, following a period of change and modernisation, that we are now a significant regional business that people recognise, want to work for and with, and who operate to high standards and values – from which we will not waiver. We can achieve success through our core values which we call ‘The Bernicia Way.’

These values are at the heart of what we do and how we do it. We live our values every day through our behaviours - how we do things, how we treat others, and how we expect to be treated.

Bernicia is a member of the Housing Employment Network North East (HENNE) which is a partnership of 12 North East social housing providers who through collaboration and the development of practical solutions, aims to support our residents and tenants to overcome barriers to employment, develop skills and experience, and provide employment opportunities.
